Harry Styles dressed as Pizza Rat for his Harryween show at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, and Knicks star Jalen Brunson walked onstage mid-set to hand him a banner celebrating the singer’s record-breaking 30-show run.
The rodent look was no half-hearted nod. Styles arrived in a full rat suit, a costume that borrowed directly from the 2015 viral clip of a rat dragging a slice of pizza down the stairs of a New York City subway station. He carried a slice onstage as a prop and played guitar with rat-claw nails. The suit, however, turned out to be a problem. Styles found it too hot to perform in, so he changed into rat ears, a tail and an ‘I’m a rat’ T-shirt and stayed on theme for the rest of the night.
The crowd clearly came ready to play along. Fans filled the sold-out arena in creative costumes, and The Hollywood Reporter spotted attendees dressed as Nikki from Curry Barker’s Obsession, painter Bob Ross and dancing lobsters. One fan wore a plastic takeout bag reading ‘have a nice day,’ which looked like a tribute to the bag in the music video for Styles’ song ‘Aperture.’ The night before, Styles had transformed into Elvis Presley before switching into the outfit he wore for his 2010 The X Factor UK audition.
Then the Knicks came calling
The biggest surprise arrived while Styles was in his second costume. Brunson stepped out to present the Grammy winner with the banner, and his remarks tied the moment back to Madison Square Garden. ‘I just wanted to appear and congratulate you on your 30th night,’ Brunson said. ‘A couple weeks ago, Harry was so kind to join me and my team on our banner night, and I thought I, on behalf of MSG and the Knicks, would do the same.’
Brunson then got a laugh with a jab at his guest. ‘But this is my third show; he’s only been to one game, so he has some catching up to do.’
Styles had made the Knicks connection visible earlier in the residency, and the banner exchange closed that loop in front of the Garden crowd. Brunson’s appearance was the kind of cross-pollination that turns a concert night into a sports headline, and it landed exactly as the venue would have hoped.
The setlist still had a few tricks
Musically, Styles stuck to the familiar residency script. He opened with ‘Dance No More’ and closed with ‘Aperture,’ from his latest album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. In between came fan favorites including ‘Satellite,’ ‘Watermelon Sugar,’ ‘As It Was’ and ‘Sign of the Times.’
He also had one more surprise up his sleeve. Styles added a performance of Talking Heads’ 1977 classic ‘Psycho Killer’ to the setlist, giving the Garden crowd a late left turn in a run that had already been packed with them.
Crowd interaction was just as loose. Styles spotted a woman holding a sign saying her crush had just gotten engaged. He joked that she had missed her chance to confess, then suggested the newly engaged couple might not last. Moments later, he noticed a young boy with a sign reading ‘I skipped trick or treating for my first concert.’ Styles told him to have as good a time as possible and to brush his teeth before bed.
A goodbye that got emotional
As the night wound down, Styles thanked fans who had traveled from across the country and around the world to see the shows. He also grew emotional during his final words to the crowd, and his voice carried the weight of a residency that had run 30 nights.
You’ve been wonderful tonight. You’ve been wonderful every night. Thank you for showing up, for dressing up, for making us feel so loved and being so wonderful to us. You’ve changed my life over and over again, and I get to remember every moment in here. I have loved it so much. Thank you for dancing with me. When I wrote this album, I wanted it to feel exactly like this.
Styles did not leave right away. He stayed onstage for roughly another 20 minutes, walking the different sections of the stage, blowing kisses to fans, eating pizza and sharing a dance party with his band. It was a fitting finish for a costume-heavy night that never really felt like it wanted to end.
Fiancée Zoë Kravitz was in attendance, adding another name to a night already full of star power, and the evening brought an emotional send-off to a residency that will now be remembered for its costumes as much as its music.
What comes next
The MSG residency is over, but the Together, Together tour is not. Styles heads to Australia next, with shows in Melbourne beginning Nov. 27 before the 2026 run wraps up in Sydney in December. He returns to North America in April 2027, kicking off the next leg in Phoenix before crossing the U.S. and Canada. The tour then moves to Europe, closing with three shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on Aug. 25, 27 and 28.
Until next time at MSG, Knicks in 5 and Styles in 30.
