Crimson Desert Diving Suit Guide: Get and Swim Underwater

IN SHORTCrimson Desert Charting the Unknown DLC diving suit guide: pre-order bonus, Sullivan’s Relic Exchange purchase, breathing boosts and underwater tips.

Pearl Abyss has opened vast underwater regions in Crimson Desert, and players need a diving suit to explore them

The Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown DLC added fully explorable underwater regions beneath the Great Ocean of Pywel. Swimming there is not free, though. Without the right gear, your breath runs out fast, and most of the seabed stays out of reach.

The quickest route to a suit is the pre-order bonus. Pre-ordering the DLC included the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka, along with the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.

How to claim the pre-order diving suits

If you pre-ordered Charting the Unknown, launch Crimson Desert and hit pause. Open the Others section in the pause menu, then select Add-ons. From there, claim the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka and the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.

Once claimed, you can equip both suits from your inventory and start diving right away.

The Charter’s sets are strong. The helm and the suit each increase max breathing by +120, which lets you explore underwater for four straight minutes. The gloves and boots each provide a +2% Swim Speed Multiplier bonus, so swimming speed rises by 4% overall.

What if you missed the pre-order

Pearl Abyss did not lock the diving suits behind a paywall. Players who skipped the pre-order can still get gear. The standard option is the Marine Charter’s Diving Suit, sold at Sullivan’s Relic Exchange.

The source material notes that this is not the same NPC you can buy ships from in Crimson Desert. Keep that in mind so you do not walk into the wrong shop.

Buying the Marine Charter gear at Sullivan’s Relic Exchange

Here is the purchase route. Head to the Demeniss port and visit the Sullivan’s Relic Exchange shop. Select the Buy option, then purchase the gear using Shattered Ancient Relics.

Kliff and Oongka can wear the Marine Charter’s Diving set, while Damiane can equip the Marine Charter’s Light Diving set. The price list for each piece is below.

Marine Charter’s Diving Helm: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Diving Suit: 7 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Diving Gloves: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Diving Boots: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Light Diving Helm: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Light Diving Suit: 7 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Light Diving Gloves: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

Marine Charter’s Light Diving Boots: 5 Shattered Ancient Relics

The trade-off is breathing time. The Marine Charter’s Diving Suit increases max breathing by only +60, which gives you around two minutes underwater. The pre-order Charter’s suit doubles that comfort window.

Why the suit matters more than you think

Without a suit equipped, you can only stay under for a few minutes before the clock forces you back up. That limit shapes every underwater trip. You cannot wander, search, or fight freely when your breath is the real timer.

Swimming itself is simple. Once you are in the sea, press the Dive button once to go under. Equip either the Charter’s Diving Suit or the Marine Charter’s Diving Suit on your playable character first, and then dive to explore.

players need a diving suit to hold their breath longer underwater and peacefully explore the uncharted regions beneath the Great Ocean of Pywel.

Ways to extend your time underwater

A suit is not the only tool. The guide points to a few items that stretch your underwater time even further.

The Propulsion Breathing Device extends max breathing time by 600. You can find it in a treasure chest in the Dead Coral Sea.

The Enhanced Propulsion Breathing Device is the stronger version. Its blueprint sits inside an underwater pyramid in the South Sea. After crafting, it extends max breathing time by 900.

The Ocean Drifter Mount helps you move faster underwater. It can be found in a treasure chest in the South Sea and is used to swim quicker through the deep regions.

Stack these with your suit and you can cover far more ground. A standard suit gives you about two minutes, a Propulsion device adds 600 more to max breathing, and the Enhanced version adds 900 after crafting. The Ocean Drifter Mount then cuts down travel time between points of interest.

The bottom line for players

The fastest way to start underwater exploring is the pre-order suit, if you still have access to it. Everyone else has a clear, affordable path through Sullivan’s Relic Exchange in Demeniss port. Buy the Marine Charter gear, equip it, and dive.

Then chase the breathing upgrades. The Dead Coral Sea chest, the South Sea pyramid, and the South Sea treasure chest all point toward the places where the underwater world opens up. Once you have the gear and the mount, the seabed beneath the Great Ocean of Pywel is yours to map.
