Fisch Record Breaker Rod: How to Unlock and Unrestrict It

IN SHORTLearn how to unlock the Record Breaker rod in Fisch, complete all three quests, and remove its restrictions with the fastest method for seven Locked In ponds.

The Record Breaker rod in Fisch unlocks from a quest offered by Tryce, the NPC inside the underground music venue. Players have to finish two quest chains before the rod is available, and even then it arrives in a restricted form that needs a third quest to fix.

The rod came in with the Venue Encore update. It is a DJ machine with rotating discs and RGB buttons, and it carries passive stats that set it apart from other rods. Here is the full route, with the quickest ways to hit each requirement.

Quest One: Getting Started

The first chain asks for three mutated catches and one rare fragment. Each target has a specific rod or method that gives the best odds, so choosing the right gear saves a lot of time.

Start with five Titanium Rusty Bolts. They spawn in the Mineshaft, and Magnet bait raises your catch rate. To get the Titanium mutation, catch them with the Titanium Rod, which carries a 25% chance to apply the mutation on every catch.

Next, return five Melody Iron Chunks. Iron Chunks show up in the Mineshaft when you fish with a rod, ideally paired with Magnet bait, or when you place Crab Cages in Fisch. The Stellarwave Melody rod has an 18.8% base chance to apply the Melody mutation, rising to 22.4% with the Cosmic Crescendo mastery enhancement.

Five Electrified Scrap Metal comes next. Scrap Metal appears during the daytime in areas such as the Mineshaft, The Depths, Crystal Cove, or Collapsed Ruins. Reel them in with Zeus’s Thundermaul while its Electrified State is active, and the mutation chance jumps to 90%. Timing the Electrified State is the key step here.

The hardest item in this chain is the Shiny Infernal Fragment. It drops at a 5% rate from Crag-Crab Mining inside the Scoria Mines at Scoria Reach, and you get it by feeding an Igneous Pearl to Crag-Crabs. Because the fragment is not caught with a standard fishing rod, you cannot simply reel it in. Take it to the Appraiser at Moosewood during a Shiny Surge event and keep appraising it until it rolls the Shiny attribute.

Finishing this set unlocks the Vinyl Bobber.

Quest Two: Out of Tunes

The second chain is the tougher one. It demands rare shiny variants and direct catches, so plan your bait and weather before you start.

Catch and return one Shiny Synth DJ Spinopus. The DJ Spinopus lives in Crystal Cove. Fish with Snare bait on clear nights during Spring or Summer. Reel it in with the Stellarwave Melody rod, which gives an 8.8% base chance for the unappraisable Synth mutation, or 12.4% with the Cosmic Crescendo enhancement. To stack the Shiny odds, use a Shiny Surge event, Rainbow weather, or the Blessed and Glittered enchantments.

Next is one Cracked Treble Bass. You can fish it up at Moosewood at any time or in any weather with Magnet bait. The Blazebringer Rod is the strongest option for the Cracked mutation, but only while its Perfect Catch passive is active. That passive gives a 5% chance during Ablaze I and a 10% chance during Ablaze II. You can also get the mutation during the 67 Warriors Admin Event, which carries a 16.7% chance.

Then catch two Phantom Speed Cores directly. You can fish up the Speed Core around Sunstone Island under any weather, season, or time of day, and no bait is required. Because this objective requires direct catches, use the Eidolon Rod. It passively grants a 35% chance to apply the Phantom mutation.

The last item is one Shiny Sparkling Bog Skulker. It spawns in the Toxic Grove when you place Crab Cages or fish with a rod using Garbage bait during rainy Autumn weather. Here is the shortcut most players miss. Shiny and Sparkling are permanent attributes, and they do not wipe each other out during appraisal. Take a regular Bog Skulker to the Appraiser at Moosewood and keep appraising it, ideally during a Shiny Surge or Night of the Luminous, until both attributes stick. If you prefer to skip appraisals, catch it directly with high-attribute rods such as the Destiny Rod or Chrysalis.

Shiny and Sparkling are permanent attributes that never wipe each other out during appraisal.

Completing both sets unlocks the Record Breaker rod, but you only get the restricted version.

Quest Three: World Tour

The restriction is the part most players miss. To unrestrict the rod, you need to fish while Locked In for 120 seconds at each of seven locations: Roslit Pond, Moosewood Pond, Forsaken Shores Pond, Evertun Forest, Ancient Isle Pond, Snowcap Pond, and Boreal Hollow.

The Locked In buff comes from the Record Breaker minigame. You must score seven points to trigger it. While fishing with the rod, a vinyl disc appears on screen. Press F when the white line sits inside the purple range to score one point. If the white line lands in the small yellow area, you get a critical hit worth two points. Miss the whole area, and the point meter resets to zero.

Plan the seven ponds as a single loop, because each one needs its own full 120-second session.

Record Breaker Rod Stats and Passive Perks

The rod comes with strong numbers for a mid-game piece. Its listed stats are Lure Speed at 70%, Luck at 227%, Control at 0.22, Resilience at 27%, Max KG at infkg, and Disturbance at +2.

Beyond the stat sheet, the rod can add the Rewind mutation to fish you catch. It also has a support side. When you get Locked In, the buff gives you a boost and gives a bystander buff to all nearby players. The buff lasts 30 seconds if you stay idle, so keep fishing to keep it running.

Here is what the Locked In perk gives you. For the user, Luck rises by 50%, Lure Speed by 30%, Control by 0.05, Forced Progress Speed by 5%, Disturbance by 2.5, Fish Weight by 25%, Shiny Chance by 5%, and Sparkling Chance by 5%. Soundblast chance on fish movement rises by 15%. Bystanders get smaller versions of these boosts, including +25% Luck, +20% Lure Speed, +2.5% Forced Progress Speed, +50% Starting Progress, +2% Shiny Chance, +2% Sparkling Chance, and a 5% Wired chance.
