Hydrogen Stove Overview A new Made-in-India hydrogen cooking stove is

gaining attention for running on water-derived green hydrogen instead of

traditional LPG cylinders. The device uses 100% green hydrogen as fuel and

is designed as a plug-and-use system for both domestic and commercial

applications.

Key Features The stove has a stainless steel body with two burners,

manual ignition, and a catalytic hydrogen burner that provides controlled,

even heating. It produces zero emissions (no CO or smoke), runs quietly

without vibration, and includes safety systems such as flame arrestors,

pressure regulation, and hydrogen-compatible valves.

How It Works Hydrogen is supplied through a controlled flow system. The

catalytic burner enables low-flame or near-flameless cooking with uniform

heat distribution. Unlike LPG, it does not rely on stored gas cylinders but

uses hydrogen generated from water via electrolysis (in green hydrogen

setups).

Target Applications While suitable for home kitchens in theory, the

current focus is on government clean-energy projects, research labs,

community kitchens, defence installations, and industrial canteens. Wider

household adoption depends on hydrogen availability and cost reduction.

Pricing and Practicality The stove is priced at approximately ₹1,50,000

per unit, making it significantly more expensive than conventional LPG

stoves. Its primary role at present is in pilot projects and institutions

testing clean cooking technologies.

Environmental Benefits The technology promises a shift towards

emission-free cooking, aligning with India’s green hydrogen mission and

reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels.
