Genshin Impact players can finish the Into the Tower’s Shadow World Quest by destroying Blightkristalls and shutting down a Shadow Realm, and the task kicks in automatically in the middle of The Days of Old Were Days of Snow. It belongs to the First, Let the Earth Open Its Maw quest chain.

The quest has a single small light puzzle and a tower climb with a few tough fights. It is not hard, but it does require following each step in order, because the pedestals and mechanisms only work when set up correctly.

The light puzzle that opens the ruin

The first objective is to find the light-focusing pedestal and destroy the Blightkristall blocking the way. Pick up the lamp crystal and install it on the pedestal. Then aim the light slightly to the left of the pickaxe and destroy the rocks in front of you.

Once those rocks are gone, you can go deeper into the ruin. Clearing every rock reveals a second pedestal and a couple of Blightkristalls. The guide’s main idea here is simple: the light has to travel from the first pedestal to the second one, and every obstacle in between has to be removed.

Setting up the Refraction Mechanism

Return to the first pedestal and pick up the temporary blueprint of the Refraction Mechanism. Place it on the light’s path, then change the direction of the beam so it reaches the pedestal inside the ruin. From there, use the light to destroy the Blightkristalls standing in the way.

After that, go back to the first pedestal and redirect the light to the pedestal inside the ruin again. This time, place a new Refraction Mechanism across the bridge. Use the second pedestal to aim the light at that mechanism, then use the mechanism to bounce the beam onto the black crystal. Destroying the black crystal opens a Precious Chest and clears the path forward.

Watch the order. Each stage depends on the one before it. If the light is pointed at the wrong target, the mechanism will not reach the crystal you need.

Stepping into the Shadow Realm

With the way clear, enter the Shadow Realm and collect the new firearm blueprint. The next marked location sits in the tower, and the first task there is to defeat all of the enemies on the ground floor.

Clearing the lower floor and taking the elevator

Once the ground floor is secured, climb toward the tower summit. Enemies near the elevator must be defeated before you can move on. Then take the elevator up. Several more enemies spawn around it during the ride, and you have to beat all of them before the trip continues.

When the elevator stops, get off and follow the quest navigation until you find a Blightkristall. Destroy it, which calls the elevator back up. The climb is built as a series of short bursts: ride, fight, destroy, and ride again.

The mini-boss and the Blightkristall Core

Keep climbing toward the summit and you will run into a powerful foe blocking the path. This is the mini-boss of the quest, and it has to be defeated before you can progress. Get back on the elevator and go up. Another enemy shows up on the way, and you must defeat it as well.

It has one small puzzle, but it is still a pretty easy quest.

At the summit, the final objective is the Blightkristall Core. Destroy the core to finish the quest. Once it breaks, you return to the normal world and the Into the Tower’s Shadow objective is complete.

What you get for finishing it

The reward for completing the quest is 30 Primogems, some upgrade materials, and a Precious Chest. Primogems are the premium currency players use for wishes, so the quest is worth finishing even for players who are not chasing its story beats.

Players who want to avoid getting stuck should keep three rules in mind: set up the lamp crystal first, follow the light path exactly as shown in the puzzle stages, and clear every enemy before boarding the elevator. Skipping any of those steps can cost time, especially during the mini-boss section where enemies keep appearing.

Players who missed the early setup can still use the sequence above to recover. Start from the first pedestal, follow the light to the second one, and work through each Refraction Mechanism in order. Once the Blightkristall Core is destroyed at the summit, the quest closes and the rewards are granted.
