Amazon is letting shoppers request an invite to buy the Xbox Series X | X25 Special Edition, a translucent green console built to celebrate 25 years of Xbox. The console releases November 13 at $909.23, and only 25,000 numbered units are being manufactured.

The timing is tight. Preorders for this console went up in August and sold out almost instantly, leaving longtime Xbox fans who wanted one with nothing to buy. Amazon is changing the process. Instead of first-come, first-served preorders, it is asking anyone interested to request an invite.

Amazon is clear that a request is not a guarantee. The retailer puts it plainly:

“If invited to purchase, you’ll get an email when the item is available. Not all requests will be granted.”

That fine print matters. Submitting a request does not mean you will be invited to buy. It does, however, give you a chance at an invite, and for fans who missed the August sellout, that is more than they have had since then.

What you get if you are invited

The package is built around the anniversary theme. You get a 1TB Xbox Series X decked out in translucent green. The front of the console carries an X25 logo, and when you power it on, the X logo glows green as well.

A matching controller comes with the bundle. That controller is also sold separately and is still available at some retailers, so buyers who only want the console can look beyond this offer for the accessory. The bundle also includes a digital copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the campaign from the original Halo.

The numbering is the detail collectors will care about most. With only 25,000 units being made, every console is a limited piece of the 25th-anniversary run. That scarcity is the reason the preorder vanished so quickly, and it is the reason the invite system is drawing attention now.

Why the price is the story most people will notice

The price is the number that will stop most readers. At $909.23, the console sits at a figure that is oddly specific, and it is aimed squarely at people who want the anniversary edition rather than a standard machine. Anyone considering a purchase should weigh that cost against how much the limited run and the matching hardware mean to them.

Demand has been the constant. The August sellout showed how quickly fans move when a limited Xbox item goes live, and the move to invite requests suggests Amazon is trying to spread access beyond the fastest buyers. A request gives shoppers a way in without needing to be online at the exact moment a preorder opens.

Why the window matters right now

The release date is November 13, less than a week away from this report. That leaves little time for anyone who has been hesitating. If you are on the fence, the invite request is the only step currently on the table, and it costs you nothing to try.

Xbox is celebrating 25 years since the original console reached store shelves, and this edition is built to mark that moment. It is a small run, a bold price and a clear pitch to fans who have been waiting for a second chance. Whether you end up with an invite or not, the request window is open now, and the release date is closing in fast.

There is no good reason to skip the request. If you have ever wanted this console, or even suspect you might want it, submit the request today and keep an eye on your inbox. The 25,000 numbered units will not last, and the next email could be the only invite you get.
