KTR Slams Congress, BJP Over Telangana’s Self-Respect

IN SHORTKTR says Congress and BJP leaders bow to Delhi, selling out Telangana’s self-respect. Claims cover Revanth Reddy, Amit Shah and Miyapur land sales.

BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused Congress and BJP leaders of bowing before their high command in Delhi, saying they are trading Telangana’s self-respect for personal and political gain. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, KTR made the charge while welcoming a group of Congress leaders and their followers into the BRS.

The sharpest allegation came over an incident in the national capital. KTR said security personnel of Priyanka Gandhi pushed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during a meeting with her. He pointed to a video of the episode and asked how a sitting chief minister could be treated that way in front of a party leader who holds only a parliamentary position.

He said the incident showed the respect Congress actually gives its own leaders. Revanth Reddy, in KTR’s telling, has been reduced to running the state through repeated trips to Delhi.

Bouncers, sacks and slippers

KTR turned his fire on BJP state president Ramchander Rao next. He said Rao, who is six years younger than Union Home Minister Amit Shah, should not be bowing at Shah’s feet. He questioned why a state leader would show that kind of submission.

KTR also took aim at Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, accusing him of behaving like a bouncer during Amit Shah’s recent Hyderabad visit. He said a Union minister should carry himself with dignity, and that a leader expected to protect the self-respect of Karimnagar’s people should not act that way.

Then came the line that his party will likely repeat for weeks. KTR said Congress is a party that carries sacks, and BJP is a party that carries slippers.

If you trust those parties, they will sell Telangana to Delhi and Gujarat.

He told the gathering that voters would answer both parties. He claimed that only BRS can protect the state’s interests and said KCR would return to power.

What Delhi visits have delivered, KTR asks

KTR argued that the state has gotten nothing from the recent parade of Delhi leaders. He asked whether Amit Shah had brought a single project to Telangana beyond waving hands on his way out.

He listed what he says is missing: metro expansion, national projects, nationally significant educational institutions, hospitals, schools, colleges and special funds. He said state leaders who should be pressing the Centre for rights, funds and projects are instead kneeling before their bosses for personal and political benefit.

He also said the Congress government has failed to deliver on its election promises. KTR said leaders who promised to implement all guarantees within three months now have to explain where those promises went.

The Miyapur land fight

The most direct charge affecting Hyderabad residents concerned 550 acres of government land in Miyapur. KTR accused Revanth Reddy of announcing that the land would be sold within 24 hours of a Supreme Court verdict, before any official orders were issued.

He wants the government to explain the rush. He said the Chief Minister is more interested in land deals than in public problems, and alleged the sale is about commissions rather than public good.

KTR proposed a different use for the land. He suggested 200 acres go toward housing for the poor, 100 acres for families of martyrs, and the rest for agitators, children’s housing, colleges and parks. He warned that the state would not tolerate handing public land to private individuals and promised that anyone involved in illegal land deals would face consequences.

He added that if KCR returns as chief minister, all illegal land agreements would be cancelled.

Ten thousand acres under the HILT banner

KTR said the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation policy, known as HILT, is being used to push roughly 10,000 acres of industrial land across 21 industrial zones into private hands. He said the government is trying to hand over land once allotted at concessional rates for industry to people close to power.

He cited one example in Serilingampally. According to KTR, 100 acres of Allied Aluminium industrial land there is worth around Rs 10,000 crore, yet it is being pushed for sale at Rs 100 to Rs 150 crore for private development. He suggested that if factories shut down, the land should serve public needs such as parks, lakes, bus depots and burial grounds.

He also criticised the 22-A regulation in revenue records. He said it has placed many colonies on the prohibited list, creating trouble for property transactions. In his view, real estate in Hyderabad has taken a hard hit since Congress came to power, and middle-class buyers holding plots worth Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh are losing value.

Bulldozers, houses and a double standard

KTR also attacked the HYDRAA demolition drive. He accused the authorities of bulldozing homes of poor and middle-class families in the name of lake encroachment, while turning a blind eye to illegal constructions by people in power.

He alleged that the agency is being used as a tool to extract money from builders. He claimed the Chief Minister’s brother built a house on the Durgam Cheruvu embankment, that minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy carried out illegal construction near Himayatsagar, and that former MLA Patnam Mahender Reddy built inside a lake. He also named minister Vivek and alleged the Chief Minister himself built a house in Reddykunta in Kodangal. His question was blunt: is there one law for those in power and another for ordinary people?

On housing, KTR reminded listeners that the KCR government built one lakh double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad and gave them to the poor. He asked whether the Revanth Reddy government had built even one home, arguing it has been quicker to demolish houses than to construct them.

Water, power and the Kaleshwaram question

KTR accused the government of neglecting Telangana’s farmers. He said it is acting vindictively toward the Kaleshwaram project and carelessly toward the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme. He described a state where water is available but not reaching farmers, and coal is available but power is not being generated.

He also blamed the government for Hyderabad’s return to drinking water shortages. He credited the KCR government with building the Mallannasagar and Kondapochamma Sagar projects to secure supplies for a growing city. He said continuous power supply existed under KCR and asked why homes and offices are again relying on generators and inverters.

KTR closed with a warning and a call to action. He urged voters in Serilingampally to think about the state’s interests rather than party politics, and to back KCR’s leadership over a leadership that, in his words, gives priority to commissions. He also mocked Revanth Reddy with a jab about his style, saying there is more noise than knowledge.
