Pakistan Gang Rape: Dar’s Grandson Cleared, Staff Charged

IN SHORTPolice clear Ishaq Dar’s grandson Raza Dar of rape in Lahore case, though medical exams confirmed rape. Three of his servants now face harassment charges.

Lahore police have cleared Mohammad Raza Dar, the grandson of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, of rape charges. The clean chit came in an incomplete investigation report filed before a trial court on Tuesday, and it covers Raza Dar and four other men.

The same report then shifts the sexual assault accusation onto three of Raza Dar’s servants. These men earn low wages, and police now name them as the ones accused of sexual harassment against the two women. For a case that has drawn national attention, that move is hard to read any other way than as a convenient landing spot for the blame.

The case first surfaced on June 29 of this year. The allegation was that two young women, one from the Netherlands and one from Venezuela, were abducted in Lahore and gang raped. Police arrested eight suspects at the start. During the probe, investigators identified Mohammad Raza Dar, the deputy prime minister’s grandson, as the main accused. Once his name appeared in the file, the case became highly visible.

How the women say they got to Pakistan

According to the police report, the two women met Raza Dar in Singapore in October 2025. They said they were offered a stake in a cryptocurrency business. Police say the early investments paid out, and that encouraged Raza Dar to put in more than 500,000 dollars.

Then the returns stopped. Police say the women paid him no profit this time. In late June, Raza Dar invited the two women to Pakistan and promised them a meeting with another investor. That meeting never happened in the way they had been told.

The women first stayed at a hotel in Islamabad and then travelled to Murree, the hill station. From there, they were taken to a house in the Defence Housing Authority area of Lahore. The women say they were held there and pressured to pay money. Police claim they were forced to transfer 19,500 dollars.

What police recovered

Police say they recovered 43 lakh Pakistani rupees, roughly 4.3 million, which they say was extracted from the women. They also seized a mobile phone and the vehicle used in the incident. Weapons were found as well, and police have registered separate cases under the Arms Ordinance for those.

The medical findings sit at the centre of the controversy. Both women underwent medical examinations, and those exams confirmed rape. Before they left Pakistan, the women also recorded statements with police. That is the detail that makes the clean chit so hard to swallow for many observers.

The clean chit and the servants

The police investigation found no evidence of rape against Raza Dar and four others.

That line from the police report is the core of the reversal. Police now say Raza Dar and the four others did wrongdoing, but only in minor offences. They are accused of illegally confining the women and of extortion. Those are serious crimes in their own right, yet the rape allegation that drew the international spotlight has been taken off the table for these five men.

In the same filing, police say three other accused were responsible for sexual harassment. All three are servants in Raza Dar’s household and are described as low-paid workers. Critics will see a pattern in which the powerful family member walks away while the people with the least power carry the most serious sexual allegation.

The gap between the medical findings and the police conclusions has already set off questions about how the investigation was run. Police have not yet explained, in the material available, how the medical confirmation of rape led to no rape evidence against the main accused. That gap is what has people angry.

Why this case matters beyond Lahore

Ishaq Dar holds the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. Any case that touches a family member of a figure at that level will attract scrutiny at home and abroad. Two foreign nationals alleging gang rape on Pakistani soil is a serious matter, and the way the state handles it will be judged accordingly.

The police filing is not the final word. The decision now belongs to the trial court, which will weigh the investigation report against the medical evidence and the women’s statements. Until that court rules, the public is left with an official account that clears the most prominent name in the file while placing blame on the household staff.

For now, the questions are simple and direct. Why was the rape allegation dropped against the main accused when medical exams confirmed rape? Why were the three servants singled out for sexual harassment charges? And why did the women’s account of being held and pressured for money end up reduced to minor offences for the men at the top of the case? The trial court will have to answer those questions, and the women who came to Pakistan on the promise of an investment deserve clear answers.

TL;DR

  • Police have cleared Mohammad Raza Dar, grandson of Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, of rape charges in an incomplete investigation report filed in court.
  • Medical examinations of the two foreign women confirmed rape, according to the case material.
  • Three low-paid servants of Raza Dar now face sexual harassment charges.
  • Police say Raza Dar and four others are accused of illegal confinement and extortion.
  • Police claim 19,500 dollars was forcibly transferred and recovered 43 lakh Pakistani rupees.
  • The trial court will make the final decision.
