Revanth Reddy Solar Payout Claim Faces Village Backlash

IN SHORTVillagers dispute CM Revanth Reddy’s solar payouts: only 323 of 498 homes were paid, averaging Rs 8,362 over 16 months, far below his claimed figure.

Only 323 of 498 solar-equipped homes in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s native village of Kondareddypalli have received payments from the state for surplus electricity, and the average credit comes to just Rs 8,362 over 16 months. The Chief Minister had said residents earned between Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000 each.

The claim came in recent remarks by the Chief Minister, who said every household in the Nagarkurnool district village had solar panels installed. According to his account, families used their own power, sold the remainder to the government, and received at least Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 in their bank accounts. He said the money allowed villagers to celebrate Dussehra on a scale nobody had seen before.

Villagers did not stay quiet. Residents told reporters the numbers did not match what they had received, and their response has spread quickly through the district.

The Pilot Project Behind the Claim

Kondareddypalli was picked as a solar power pilot project after Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister. The village is in Vangoor mandal of Nagarkurnool district, and it has 514 electricity connections in total.

Of those, 16 houses under the Indiramma housing scheme remain unfinished. That left 498 homes eligible for solar panels, which were installed in phases. Solar power started flowing into use from June 2025.

Each home received a three-kilowatt panel. On a good sunny day, a system can generate up to 12 units of electricity. Residents say they sell an average of 150 to 180 units a month to the government after meeting household needs. The state pays Rs 3.13 per unit.

Only 323 Households Were Paid

The government recently credited payment for electricity bought from households between June 2025 and September 2026, covering 16 months. But the money did not reach everyone. Officials say 323 homeowners received credits, while 175 others did not get anything because of technical reasons.

The total amount credited to those 323 accounts is Rs 27,00,961. Officials have said the remaining 175 homes are due around Rs 8 lakh, but that money has not yet reached them.

Averaged across the 323 paid households, each home received Rs 8,362 for the entire 16-month period. That works out to roughly Rs 522 per month. Many villagers say they got around Rs 5,000. Those who used less electricity, according to locals, received between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000.

That gap between the Chief Minister’s figures and the village’s ledger is the core of the dispute. A payout range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 leaves little room for households that were paid Rs 5,000 or nothing at all.

Sarcasm, Festivals and Unanswered Questions

Residents responded to the Chief Minister’s Dussehra remarks with open sarcasm. Villagers said they did celebrate the festival with the money he mentioned, and they joked that they would also mark Diwali and Sankranti with the same funds.

We celebrated Dussehra with the money he gave us, and we will celebrate Diwali and Sankranti too.

Behind the jokes, residents are asking harder questions. They want to know what will happen to the 175 homes still waiting for payment, and what the state plans to do for the 16 unfinished Indiramma houses that were excluded from the solar scheme.

Why It Matters Across Telangana

The dispute is not only about one village. The Chief Minister chose Kondareddypalli as a pilot, and he is now using its results to describe his government’s record. When the reported payouts differ this sharply from the figures publicly claimed, the scheme itself comes under scrutiny for every household it touches across the state.

Officials have attributed the missing payments to technical issues but have not, based on the available reporting, explained how or when those 175 accounts will be settled. Until they do, the village’s count of who was paid and who was left out stands as the most direct test of the Chief Minister’s claim.

TL;DR

  • Only 323 of 498 solar households in Kondareddypalli have been paid, averaging Rs 8,362 over 16 months.
  • Revanth Reddy claimed villagers earned Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 each from selling solar power to the state.
  • The state paid Rs 3.13 per unit for surplus electricity, covering June 2025 to September 2026.
  • Officials say 175 homes were not paid due to technical reasons, and about Rs 8 lakh is still pending.
  • Residents say most received around Rs 5,000 and are asking about 16 unfinished Indiramma houses.
