Walmart is selling the HP HyperX OMEN 15-inch gaming laptop with GeForce RTX 5060 graphics for $1,199 with free shipping, after a $700 instant discount. The deal is live as of October 28, 2026.

Gaming hardware prices have been climbing. RAM and GPUs keep getting more expensive, yet gaming laptops are still relatively easy to find at steep discounts. This one stands out because it pairs a current-generation GPU with a strong processor at a price that rivals a standalone gaming console-style box with far less built-in capability.

What you actually get for $1,199

The laptop features a 15.3-inch 2K, 165Hz IPS display, an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HX processor, a GeForce RTX 5060 8GB mobile GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD. Every piece of that spec sheet matters, but the GPU and CPU combination is the reason this configuration is worth a closer look.

The Ryzen 7 8745HX is a Zen 4 Dragon Range chip with 8 cores and 16 threads. Its maximum boost clock reaches 5.1GHz, which makes it a strong gaming processor. Pair that with 16GB of DDR5 memory and a fast 1TB SSD, and you have a machine that handles modern game loads without the bottlenecks that plague budget builds.

Why the GPU configuration is the real story

The RTX 5060 in this model runs at the maximum allowable TGP of 115W. That wattage ceiling means it should perform at the top of the pack when compared to other RTX 5060 laptops, many of which are tuned to run lower.

HP does not throttle the GPU on this particular model. According to HP’s official spec sheet, the model number 15-gb0xxx, paired with an AMD Dragon Range CPU, carries that full 115W rating. Some other HyperX OMEN laptops cut back GPU power, so this detail is not a small one. It is the difference between paying for a rating on paper and getting that performance in your hands.

On performance, the RTX 5060 mobile chip is a solid mid-range option. It should run most games at 60fps, especially when the title supports DLSS 4.5. Compared with the previous generation, it is essentially a more power-efficient version of the RTX 4070.

The Steam Machine comparison

The laptop’s real pitch comes into focus when you line it up against the $1,049 Steam Machine. That console-style device uses a very low-wattage CPU and a custom GPU equivalent to either the Radeon RX 7600 or the GeForce RTX 4060.

The HyperX OMEN’s AMD Ryzen HX processor and RTX 5060 mobile GPU outclass that hardware. The laptop also includes a built-in display, so you are not paying extra for a screen. That is the detail that turns a close price into an easy choice.

You’re also getting a complete mobile platform that includes a built-in display, all for nearly the same price.

Who should move on this now

This deal makes the most sense for gamers who want a portable machine that can play most current titles at around 60fps and take advantage of DLSS 4.5 where it is supported. It also suits buyers who want desktop-class GPU performance in a laptop without paying a premium for a higher-tier chip.

There is one number to check before you buy. The RTX 5060 mobile GPU comes with 8GB of video memory. Buyers who play memory-hungry titles should check that figure against the games on their list before committing.

The bottom line on timing

Deals on high-end hardware rarely hang around, and this one lands while component costs are rising. Eric Song, the deal hunter who tracks gaming and tech discounts every day, has pointed out that this model offers a complete platform at nearly the price of a rival device. For anyone who has been waiting for a gaming laptop with real GPU power and a full-power rating, the math has never looked this favorable.
