Beyond the public interaction, Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vadodara features a high-powered agenda packed with major infrastructure announcements. Around noon, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay foundation stones for development projects totaling more than Rs 35,000 crore.

A flagship highlight of the visit is the dedication of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor spanning 326 km. Constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 20,700 crore, this crucial addition makes the entire freight-corridor network operational, establishing direct rail connectivity between northern India and Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT). This network will accelerate EXIM cargo movement, significantly lower logistics costs, and alleviate congestion on existing railway routes.

In addition, the Prime Minister will flag off new freight services from key hubs including New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT. He will also launch a new passenger train connecting Vadodara with Tanda Road and dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line, designed to integrate remote and tribal regions of Alirajpur into the national rail network.

The infrastructure outlay also includes laying foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 km worth over Rs 9,700 crore, as well as three highway projects estimated at Rs 1,780 crore. Furthermore, Gujarat state government initiatives valued at around Rs 2,600 crore will be highlighted, featuring the second phase of the Vadodara ring road, a 110 MW floating solar power project at Kadana Dam, a new municipal corporation office, housing developments under PMAY, and a vital water-supply project servicing 11 villages.

Following his engagement in Vadodara, PM Modi will travel to Maharashtra later in the day to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. The financial summit will focus on cutting-edge themes such as agentic AI, tokenisation, and quantum technologies to build secure and inclusive financial systems.
