Two government officials working on the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0 project at Bhagirathipet in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday, October 22, 2026, for allegedly demanding commissions ranging from 10% to 25% from a contractor. The arrested individuals were identified as Satish Reddy, Project Officer, and Raju, Technical Officer, both attached to the PMKSY 2.0 Bhagirathipet project.
According to the anti-corruption agency, the officials brazenly demanded illegal gratification from a contractor to process pending bills relating to works already executed and to allot further projects. The complainant stated that the accused threatened to withhold pending payments and completely deny additional contracts unless the steep commission demands were met.
Digital Evidence Seals the Case
Investigators uncovered that an aggregate amount of ₹39.17 lakh had been transferred to various bank accounts and through UPI transactions allegedly communicated by the two officials. The trapped contractor provided concrete proof, furnishing detailed bank statements and WhatsApp conversations to substantiate the extortion claims. The ACB meticulously examined these electronic records and financial transactions during its verification process.
Further inquiries revealed that Satish Reddy had specifically demanded an additional 25% commission on the amount relating to the seventh bill just for recording measurements of further works and processing pending payments.
The complainant alleged that the officials threatened to withhold pending payments and deny additional contracts unless the demanded commissions were paid.
Strict Legal Action Follows
Based on the formal complaint and unrefutable evidence gathered during verification, the ACB’s Warangal Range registered a case against the two officials under Sections 7(a), 7(b) and 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both accused officials were arrested and are being produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal for judicial remand. The anti-corruption watchdog confirmed that further investigations are actively under way to examine all alleged illegal payments and check the potential roles of other accomplices.
