Ducati Launches Fourth-Generation Hypermotard V2 Range
Ducati has expanded its high-performance motorcycle lineup with the official launch of the new Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP in India. The base Hypermotard V2 carries an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 16.53 lakh, while the track-focused V2 SP variant hits the market at Rs 20.78 lakh. Bookings for both luxury motorcycles are officially open across all authorized Ducati dealerships nationwide.
At the heart of the new supermotard range sits an all-new 890cc V-twin engine. Ducati engineered this powerplant to push out 120bhp at 10,750rpm alongside 94Nm of torque at 8,250rpm. The manufacturer highlights this unit as its lightest twin-cylinder engine yet, tipping the scales at just 54.4kg. Utilizing an IVT variable intake valve timing system, the setup delivers 70 percent of its maximum torque at a low 3,000rpm.
Chassis Upgrades and Weight Reductions
Weight-saving measures form a core part of the fourth-generation redesign. The motorcycles feature a monocoque frame utilizing the engine as a stressed member, paired with a double-sided aluminium swingarm. These modifications shave off 13kg on the standard V2 and 14kg on the V2 SP compared to their predecessors. Consequently, the standard model registers a kerb weight of 180kg without fuel, while the SP version weighs 177kg dry.
Both variants maintain a signature supermotard riding stance featuring wide handlebars and repositioned footpegs, alongside an 880mm seat height. Buyers can also opt for a racing exhaust upgrade, which trims an additional 4kg off the weight while boosting power output by 3.6 horsepower.
Track-Ready Hardware on the SP Variant
The Hypermotard V2 SP gets upgraded hardware for more focused riding on the track.
The V2 SP model elevates its hardware specifications with fully adjustable Ohlins NIX30 48mm upside-down front forks and an Ohlins STX46 rear monoshock. Stopping power is managed by Brembo M50 calipers, and forged aluminium wheels reduce inertia to sharpen directional changes. The SP variant rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tyres.
Meanwhile, the standard Hypermotard V2 utilizes fully adjustable 46mm Kayaba upside-down front forks alongside a Kayaba rear monoshock adjustable for preload and rebound. It incorporates cast aluminium wheels, Brembo M4.32 brake calipers, and standard Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. Both models share a 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyre configuration.
Advanced Electronics and Aesthetics
A comprehensive electronics suite driven by a six-axis inertial measurement unit governs both machines. Features include cornering ABS with a Slide by Brake function, Ducati Traction Control, Wheelie Control, and Engine Brake Control. Clutchless gear changes are facilitated by Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, viewed through a new 5-inch full-TFT instrument display supporting Road, Road Pro, and Track modes. Four riding modes—Race, Sport, Road, and Wet—come standard. Furthermore, the V2 SP includes Ducati Power Launch and a Pit Limiter as standard equipment, which are available as optional accessories on the standard V2.
Aesthetic traits carry forward signature Hypermotard elements, including the double-wing fuel tank, compact front end, and twin under-seat exhausts. The standard V2 is finished in Ducati Red, whereas the V2 SP sports a dedicated livery accompanied by a carbon-fibre front fender.
