MG Motor’s all-new Hector Tomahawk electric SUV has officially entered the full-size EV market with a competitive ex-showroom price tag of Rs 22.99 lakh for its five-seater Essence variant. Designed to address long-distance travel and modern fuel uncertainties, the flagship EV brings massive road presence paired with high-capacity battery technology.

Measuring 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,770mm in height, the Tomahawk commands immediate attention. Supported by a generous 2,810mm wheelbase and offering 230mm of ground clearance, the vehicle presents bold SUV proportions. Sleek front LED headlights and daytime running lights border a dark grille with an illuminated MG logo at its center, while 18-inch alloy wheels and muscular rear wraparound LED taillights add to its imposing visual identity.

High-Tech Cabin and Practicality

Inside, the Hector Tomahawk is equipped with a feature-rich interior centered around an enormous 39.6cm central touchscreen display. The system introduces novel functionalities, including gesture controls for climate management, customizable ambient modes, and built-in karaoke capabilities. Audio performance is driven by a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, while driver information is delivered through a 22.3cm digital instrument cluster. Cabin occupants benefit from a flat floor, electric front seat adjustment, exceptional legroom, a double-decker storage console, and a cavernous 610-litre boot space.

Powertrain, Range, and Mobile Energy

Powering the Tomahawk is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor generating 204bhp (150kW) and 210Nm of torque. The motor draws energy from a 69.2kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed single-charge driving range of up to 517km. Beyond conventional driving, the vehicle offers innovative Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities, allowing the battery pack to function as an external power backup.

Driving Dynamics and Overall Value

On the move, the electric SUV offers progressive acceleration in standard mode, making it simple to cruise at 100kmph, with a sportier driving mode available for sharper throttle response. Its Electronic Power Assisted Steering remains light, making tight urban maneuvering remarkably straightforward, as tested through narrow city lanes in Kochi. While the braking feel requires deeper pedal pressure and the soft suspension setup exhibits body roll and bottoming out over severe potholes at 50kmph, the overall package remains exceptionally compelling.
