Owaisi Exposes Goshamahal Plot to Delete Muslim Voters

IN SHORTAsaduddin Owaisi demands a probe into pre-filled Form 7 submissions targeting Muslim voters in Hyderabad’s Goshamahal Assembly segment.

Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi has submitted formal complaints demanding a police and electoral inquiry after uncovering bulk, pre-printed Form 7 applications submitted to purge legitimate minority voters from the electoral rolls in the Goshamahal Assembly constituency.

Addressing the press, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president revealed an alarming campaign to manipulate voter registries using pre-printed forms. Specifically detailing the irregularities, Owaisi disclosed that 122 Form 7 objection forms were delivered in bulk at Booth 28 alone in Goshamahal. The statutory application, meant to challenge voter inclusions or report deaths and migrations, had been filled in advance to eliminate voters solely from the minority community.

Owaisi identified the individual who submitted the bulk batch as Janardhan, whom he characterized as a Bharatiya Janata Party supporter or sympathiser. An examination of 60 of the targeted 122 voters confirmed that their names legitimately existed across the 2002 electoral roll, the 2026 electoral roll, and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision draft roll. Several had already received statutory notices and provided verified formal responses to the election machinery.

Highlighting the shocking nature of the disenfranchisement push, the Hyderabad MP cited the case of Mirza Farooq Baig, an octogenarian resident known across the locality who has lived at his address since birth. Baig faced targeted disenfranchisement alongside 15 other neighborhood electors in a single stroke. Similarly, in polling station 172, a deletion request targeted Samu Uddin Ansari, an established local elector who has resided at his home for more than three decades.

“Where are these forms being printed? Why are they doing this? If the BJP is doing this, why is it doing this? These are Indian citizens. Why are you with so much hatred?”

Owaisi credited vigilant field staff for halting the operation in its tracks. He praised the Booth Level Officer for refusing to process the suspicious paperwork without verification. However, he warned that the incident exposes catastrophic systemic risks: should booth-level personnel fail to remain attentive, lawful citizens could effortlessly be wiped from official rolls without their knowledge. He raised alarm over broader national implications, questioning what might transpire across large states like Uttar Pradesh if administrative vigilance slipped.

Impact on Telangana and Hyderabad Electoral Integrity

The controversy directly impacts Telangana’s electoral administration as the Goshamahal Assembly segment represents a fiercely contested territory nestled within the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. With the Special Intensive Revision process actively taking claims and objections, any systemic attempt to alter voter compositions threatens the democratic balance across Hyderabad and Telangana at large. Owaisi underscored that his party has established civic help desks at Darussalaam to assist all eligible electors, including members of backward classes and Hindu voters, insisting that election rolls must reflect every genuine resident regardless of community identity.

Following his disclosures, Owaisi formally petitioned the Chief Electoral Officer, the District Election Officer, and the Director General of Police. The representation cited targeted abuses at booths 28 and 173, demanding immediate penal prosecution against Janardhan under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, which criminalizes false declarations in connection with electoral rolls. Owaisi insisted that investigators trace the unauthorized printing operations and unmask the coordinators behind the disenfranchisement attempt.
