Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has moved to remove Forest Minister Konda Surekha from the Council of Ministers with immediate effect. She claimed that decisions pertaining to her departments—Forest, Environment, and Endowments—were increasingly being made through direct instructions from the Chief Minister’s Office, bypassing her consultation. This, she argued, had reduced her role to a "nominal" one, undermining her authority and effectiveness.

Specific instances cited by Surekha included her exclusion from information regarding the constitution of the Yadadri Temple Trust Board, despite being the Endowments Minister. She also alleged that funds released by her department for the development of the Sammakka-Saralamma Temple were abruptly transferred to the Roads and Buildings Department within a day, without her knowledge or consent.

Surekha further highlighted her exclusion from the state government’s official advertisements for Sri Rama Navami this year, where her photograph was conspicuously absent. She also raised concerns over the removal of her former OSD, Sumanth, without her being informed, and his subsequent facing of a second non-bailable case which she believed lacked sufficient evidence.

Regarding development in her own constituency, Warangal East, Surekha alleged that funds sanctioned for neighbouring constituencies were not being made available for projects in her area, citing delays in the Warangal Smart City Model Bus Stand and the Bondi Vagu expansion. She also pointed out that Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari held a review meeting with Endowments Department officials without her involvement, an objection she claimed went unaddressed by the party leadership.

In her letters, Surekha contrasted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s public comments on whether Congress leader Jagga Reddy would contest from Sangareddy with the Chief Minister’s own campaigning in Parkal for sitting MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy. She argued that while Revanth Reddy publicly stated that Jagga Reddy’s candidature decision rested with the Congress high command, his direct appeal for Prakash Reddy’s renomination in Parkal demonstrated unequal political standards within the party.

Surekha also contended that it was inappropriate to hold a mother accountable for the personal remarks of an adult daughter, especially when similar criticisms made by other leaders against Revanth Reddy had reportedly gone unaddressed. Each of her letters reportedly included a pen drive containing "relevant videos and other supporting materials" for the Congress leadership’s review, underscoring the seriousness of her allegations.

The Telangana Congress disciplinary committee had previously asked Surekha to submit a reply within three days regarding her daughter’s comments. Surekha, however, rejected the premise of the notice, asserting that her daughter’s remarks were made independently and that she could not be held responsible for them.
